We believe that there is one true, holy God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – each of Whom possesses equally all the attributes of deity and the characteristics of personality.

In the beginning, God created the world and all the things in it out of nothing, manifesting the glory of His power, wisdom and goodness. By His supreme power, He continues to sustain His creation. He involves Himself in and superintends human history, working to complete fullness His plan of Salvation.

God the Father

The Bible says there is God the Father.

He is an eternal spirit-person who loves all people and hears and answers prayers. He calls out to the hearts of people to be reunited with Him through a plan of salvation that includes God the Son.

Jesus Christ

Jesus is the second person of the Trinity, the Son of God.

He is also eternal. The Son of God was united with a true human nature by a miraculous conception within the womb of a virgin. She conceived through the power of God. Therefore, Jesus came into the world fully human and fully God. He lived a life of perfect obedience to God the Father and voluntarily paid the penalty of our sin and separation from God by dying on a cross. Jesus “stood in” for sinful people because God cannot be in a relationship with people if they remain in their sin condition.

Jesus became the perfect substitute, satisfying God’s sinless, perfect and just nature. Jesus’ death provides salvation for all who trust in Him and His saving work on the cross. He rose from the dead in the same body, but also a body miraculously made ready for heaven. Jesus ascended to heaven and took His rightful position next to God the Father, where He, the only mediator between God and people, continually acts in behalf of His followers. Jesus will personally and visibly appear on earth again to bring human history to an end and begin God’s incredible, eternal plan.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, gives followers of Jesus the power to live out the will of God (as found in the Bible).

The Holy Spirit was sent into the world by the Father and the Son to apply to people the saving work of Jesus. The Holy Spirit also opens up the minds of people who are still in their sin condition and separated from God. The Holy Spirit awakens an individual to his or her need for a Savior. When the person responds with faith to the Holy Spirit’s prompting, a spiritual washing and renewal takes place. This is called salvation. At the point of salvation, the Holy Spirit permanently enters into the believer to become the source of assurance, strength and wisdom.

He uniquely gives each believer spiritual gifts to help the church carry out its mission – God’s plan of salvation for the people of this world. The Holy Spirit guides believers in understanding and applying the scriptures to their lives. His power and control are appropriated by faith, making it possible for the follower of Jesus to develop Christ-like character and to live in ways that please the Father.

God created people to live in a relationship with Him.

However, the first man and woman defied God, choosing to go their own, independent way. Therefore, they were alienated from God and suffered a complete corruption of the human nature God intended, making them unable to please God. The fall of humanity took place at the beginning of human history, and all individuals since then have inherited the capacity to sin (sin nature).

Therefore, all people are in need of God’s intervention in order to be fully restored to Him. This restoration is called salvation. The salvation of all people is a work of God’s unconditional love. Salvation is not a result of my human works or goodness, and must be personally appropriated through genuine remorse for one’s sin and faith in the saving power of Jesus.

The Bible

The truth contained in the Bible is the sole basis of Christian belief.

The Bible is composed of the 66 books of the Old and New Testament. We believe that Scriptures recorded in the Bible originated with God and was given through men chosen by God. The Bible speaks with the authority of God and reflects the backgrounds, styles and vocabularies of the human authors. We believe that the Bible is without error, perfectly trustworthy, unquestionably true it its original manuscripts, and has final authority on all matters of faith and how we live our daily lives. There are no other writings similarly inspired by God.

Faith and Practice

The Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and in how we live out our daily lives.

CrossWinds Community Church recognizes that it cannot dictate the conscience of individual members in areas where the Bible gives freedom or is silent. Rather, each believer is to be led in those areas by their love for Jesus, to whom he or she is ultimately responsible, and by a love for others. We believe this statement of faith is an accurate summary of what the Bible teaches.

Human Destiny

When a person dies, the destiny of that person is sealed for eternity.

For all humanity, there will be a resurrection of the body into the spiritual world and a judgment that will determine the fate of each person. Those people who die in their original sin condition, separated from God, will be eternally separated from Him as a judgment for their sin. God’s judgment will reveal his perfect justice as He assigns them the due penalty for their rejection. Followers of Jesus will be received into eternal fellowship with God and will enjoy living in a new heaven and a new earth. Each believer in Jesus will be rewarded for their obedience and good works done in this life as a response to their love for God and for others.

The Church

When people place their faith and trust in Jesus for salvation, they become members of a movement larger than themselves. That movement is called the Church.

The Bible refers to the Church as being the “body of Christ.” Those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and absolute leader of their life belong to the “universal church” and express themselves through local congregations like CrossWinds. The Bible tells followers of Jesus to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching of the Bible, believers baptism, and the Lord’s Supper as practices established by Jesus.

The Church is also committed to meaningful relationships with one another and to service to God and others through the development and use of talents and spiritual gifts. The Bible also indicates that the primary purpose of the church is its mission. The mission of the church is to love others and to introduce them to Jesus, His plan of salvation, and his teachings.

Why are well founded beliefs important?

Let’s face it, there are a myriad of different beliefs, philosophies, and opinions floating around. In that kind of environment, anything and everything goes. I have a truth, you have a truth, the guy across the street has his truth. Unfortunately, in that kind of setting, there are very few things we can agree upon or believe in.

There’s only one opinion, one truth that really matters.

Our desire at CrossWinds is to understand the truth as God defines it and then share it in a loving matter. The Bible is the only source for truth about God, faith and how to live a life pleasing to Him. It is the basis of who we are and what we do at CrossWinds.
